Skymap is seeking Associate Game Designers. Designers at Skymap get to enjoy a great amount flexibility in their work responsibilities. Depending on the project, you may focus on gameplay design, quest design, creature and combat design, narrative design, and more.

You will collaborate with project and game design leads to create design specifications and in most cases assist in implementing them. This is a highly collaborative and creative role which requires clear lines of communication with all team members and various other disciplines (engineering, quality assurance, etc).

Responsibilities

• Design ideation. Based on the type of work, you will follow existing design and implementation pipelines.
• Playtest and tune relevant design content as well as document the process with the appropriate tools. Provide feedback for designs to improve the content and make the game more fun.
• Take part in weekly design meetings. Communicate issues and feedback with your team, your lead, and other disciplines throughout the week as issues arise and at weekly project meetings.
• Collaborate with team members and integrate with the design team.
• Implement designs in game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc) with support from engineering or other teams. You will receive training for implementing and using custom tools when necessary.

Qualifications 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in game development or game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc).

Pluses 

• A passion for video games and discussing design choices.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Experience working in small-to-large teams.
